Rinsai, Utsushi

Rinsai Utsushi was a woodblock print artist active between 1869-1890 and focused almost entirely in kacho-e or bird-and-flower pictures. The woodblocks he created are dynamic, unique in their combinations of traditional landscapes, treatment, and decorative elements. His prints were mostly released as collections or volumes, many with an album backing of a second sheet (not backed, but two sheets connected as a back).
