Yokouchi, Kiyoharu (Ginnosuke)
Kiyoharu (Ginnosuke) Yokouchi (1870-1942) was a Yokohama-based artist well-known for his impressionistic watercolor landscape paintings. He self-published eight known woodblock prints, all thought to be a maximum edition of 300 with some specifically numbered on the prints. His work is described as self-carved and self-printed, however it’s more likely that he commissioned the carving and printing from professionals, a common practice by the 1930s among artists that otherwise specialized in painting. Based on the few prints that he did and the limited impressions that were published, his work is exceedingly rare to find.
